Walls & Builds is a working contractor outfit in the Los Angeles area — flooring installers, painters, and remodelers who turn up to the same jobs together.
Plenty of remodeling companies are a sales operation with a rotating cast behind it. You meet a closer, you sign, and then a different crew turns up each week with no memory of what was agreed. Nobody owns the outcome, and the homeowner ends up project-managing their own renovation by accident.
We run it the other way round. The same team works your project through, which means the person who measured your hallway is the person who lays the floor in it. When something needs deciding, whoever decides has been in the room and seen the problem.
We measure first and quote second. That sounds obvious, but a lot of estimates in this trade are produced from a phone call and a square-footage guess, which is why they move so much once work begins. Ours are written after someone has stood in the space, looked at the subfloor, and checked what the walls are actually made of.
Once you approve the scope, the work gets sequenced so trades do not undo each other. Protection goes down before demolition. Prep gets its own days rather than being squeezed into the finish. And the site gets cleaned at the end of each day, because living in a construction zone for a fortnight is miserable and avoidable.
Homeowners who want the job done properly and would rather hear an honest timeline than a flattering one. If you are shopping purely on price, there will always be someone cheaper — usually by skipping the prep you cannot see until it fails.
To confirm before launch CSLB licence number, insurance carrier, bonding, and years in business. California homeowners check licences at cslb.ca.gov, so these belong on this page and in the footer once Walls & Builds provides them.
The people who start your job finish it. No handoff to a crew that was not there for the walkthrough.
An itemised estimate before anything starts, and a written change order before anything is added.
Floors covered, furniture moved, debris hauled. The house stays livable while we work.
Finish work is judged years later, in raking afternoon light, by someone who has stopped thinking about the renovation. That is the standard worth building to.
That is how we run it. The team that starts your project finishes it, so nobody arrives on day four with no idea what was agreed on day one. Customers consistently mention this in reviews — that the crew was consistent and that communication did not fall apart halfway through.
The same person you have been dealing with. There is no ticket queue and no account manager who has never seen your house. If a problem needs a decision, the person making it has stood in the room.
Both. A single room of flooring or a couple of walls patched and repainted is worth our time. Plenty of larger projects started as a small repair that went well.
In writing, before the work happens. If we open a wall and find something unexpected, you get shown the problem and given a written cost to approve. Nothing gets added to the invoice that you have not signed off.
We do not do structural engineering, we are not electricians or plumbers for anything beyond ordinary fixture work, and we do not take on ground-up construction. When a job needs a licensed specialist we say so and bring one in rather than improvising.
Depends on the season and the size of the job. Small flooring and paint work can often start within a couple of weeks. Kitchens and bathrooms need longer because of material lead times. We will give you a real date, not an optimistic one.
We run jobs across the LA basin and the nearby valleys. If your city is not on the list, call and ask — we travel for the right project.
Most jobs sit within about an hour of the crew. Larger flooring and full-repaint projects we will travel further for, since the crew is on site for several days either way.
Send a few details and we will come measure, talk through materials, and put a written scope in your hands.
